i've seen 'the ring [original]' and didn't find it all that scary to be honest, and am awaiting dvdsontap.com to deliver me the remake since i've heard it's actually not too bad. watch the 'the haunting' [1950s version] for edge-of-seat-type tension.

but forget all that. everyone listen to adam masterson's album instead, you'll feel much better for it.

me? i'm immersed in "in time: the best of r.e.m. [1988---2003]" [limited edition 2 disc version of course], and it's fantastic.

The 1963 version with Claire Bloom? Gulp, I don't think so. The most frightening film I've ever seen was Picnic at Hanging Rock. Nightmares for months after. I couldn't even vote on Channel 4's Scariest Moment because I hadn't seen most of the films. Such a wuss.

Fluffy, I'm not even going to think about what you just said {shudder}. David - the Adam Masterson cd is superb, many thanks for recommending it.

*checks on imdb.com* yeah, 1963 version, that'll be the one. not sure why i thought it was 50s. who needs computer generated special effects when you've got that scene in the bedroom with the banging on the door? still my all-time scariest film moment.

so glad you like adam masterson's album -- my personal faves are 'nowhere land' and 'sunlight song' [the latter in particular].

Dvd, I'd like to say you see that (EH, THAT'S THE WRONG WAY ROUND, SHURELY?) if you were sat on your own at my house watching it for the first time, with the creepy banging thing in the attic, and the moaning-sounds tree out the window moving every few seconds, and...ooooer, I'm 'ard me.
