Get the popcorn out

I might be tempted to watch tv tonight - at 20:00 (UK time) on Sky Cinema 1 we have Les Visiteurs with the gorgeous Jean Reno. Very funny. And much, much better than the appalling Hollywood remake. Here’s one review:

This IS a silly film but delightfully put together. It combines some wonderful farcical moments and superb over acting. The imcomprehension (of the two 12th Century visitors) in regard to 20th Century France is wonderful. The sending up of the stuffed shirt Bon Chic, Bon Gens (BCBG - Yuppies to the uninitiated) Montmirail family and their total accpetance of Jean Reno and Christian Clavier as possible long lost relatives is wonderful. It does not matter that this is in French with subtitles… you won’t notice them as the action is so obvious that everyone can understand it. Get yourself a baguette, some brie, open some red wine and thoroughly enjoy yourself…

Or at 20:00 on Sky Cinema 9, The Pledge with Jack Nicholson. Very disturbing. The only film I’ve seen that makes me understand why Nicholson is so highly thought of.

Les Visiteurs is stormingly good although my wife complains that the subtitles don’t even begin to do it justice as a lot of the jokes are to do with the fact that Jean Reno is speaking medieval French.

Then again, she could just be showing off!

No, she’s not showing off (how could you even think that!?). But I guess there’s quite a small market for the “medieval subtitled version”. Have you seen the original French version of Nikita?
