23 questions

Lifted from Stu, here are my twenty-three answers:

1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says:

Descriptive captions explain something about the art but do not necessarily point to or call out any-

Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications. It’s on top of the pile of books I’m giving to the charity shop this weekend.

2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?
The roller blind.

3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?
A BBC 1 documentary about the way reptiles (including the Cape cobra) have evolved. Shouldn’t have watched it while eating supper…

4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is:
20:48

5: Now look at the clock; what is the actual time?
20:53

6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Dizzy snoring. She’s wrapped up in a nice warm blanket on the office sofa, running like a wild thing in the rain is so tiring, dahling.

7: When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
About 3 hours ago to walk the dogs. Bad timing. Torrential rain and hailstones the size of marbles. I got changed as soon as we got home, even my underwear was sopping wet.

8: Before you came to this website, what did you look at?
A Dutch translation of a —- manual.

9: What are you wearing?
Long navy blue cotton nightdress, slippers and small silver earrings. Oh and one ring on each hand.

10: Did you dream last night?
Yes.

11: When did you last laugh?
About an hour ago, got a call from best friend Nina, back in the UK after living overseas. As always, we laughed like drains the whole time.

12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?
A painting by Hairy Dog, various other prints (mostly of the sea, lighthouses, etc.), a dragonfly.

13: Seen anything weird lately?
That BBC documentary – there are hundreds of terrapins stalking the rivers and ponds of this island. One was filmed attacking and eating a duck. Not so much wierd as surprising.

14: What do you think of this quiz?
A very good idea. Glad I nicked it. Hope you all steal it too.

15: What is the last film you saw?
Truly Madly Deeply (again). Watched it from video on Sunday night.

16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?
Houses etc. for each family member; one house for us by the sea with huge dog friendly grounds, maybe a “city pad” in central London.

17: Tell me something about you that I don’t know.
I’ve been on Belgian tv.

18: If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
I’d sack George (hooch, ptui) Bush, Anne (hooch, ptui) Robinson and Sue (hooch, ptui) Lawley immediately. How shallow! Install Oprah as president. Go on, she couldn’t do a worse job.

19: Do you like to dance?
Yes. In the privacy of my own home. The dogs don’t mind two left feet when I’m bopping along to music in the ktichen. Well, they’ve never said anything uncomplimentary anyway.

20: George Bush: is he a power-crazy nutcase or some one who is finally doing something that has needed to be done for years?
He’s a nutcase yes of course. Power-crazy? Is he intelligent enough to be power crazy? Maybe his father and advisors are? I don’t know.

21: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Nina, Eleanor?

22: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Callum, Luke?

23: Would you ever consider living abroad?
Have done so.

Update: Anna‘s, Billy‘s, Michael‘s, Mindy‘s, Trikke D‘s and Neil‘s are up – anyone else?

Ooh, Truly Madly Deeply! I’m such a sap with that film, I start crying even before the opening theme plays. I’m a sniffing wailing snot machine throughout the whole film. Great fun.

Oh I know! I have been since the first time I saw it in the cinema all those years back. Best friend Nina and I can quote huge chunks of it to each other. She even took cello lessons after seeing it!

I can’t say he does anything for me, I’d be happier with Bill Patterson (Sandy, the Scottish owner of the translation agency). Sorry, bit of an anorak where TMD is concerned…

That was a bit of a cheat. I’m tempted to make something up but the truth is I was on screen for about 10 seconds, running in a marathon.
