Monday’s child

What do you get when you combine the creative talents of Anne and Taz with the all round silliness of another blogger?

We’ve all had days when we’re staring at a blank screen thinking “What the heck can I post about today?. The plan is to add an idea a day, starting this very day and gradually build up an archive of ideas to fall back on when the muse buggers off down the pub for a gin and tonic and you’re left bereft and postless.

So what’s the first idea I hear you cry?

Monday’s child is fair of face, Write a blog entry about the characteristics ascribed to you by your birth-day of the week. On target? Or way off base?

Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go,
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child born on a Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

I have “far to go”, eh. So how to interpret this? Physically, I’ve lived and travelled only in Europe and North America. Now that I’m settling into middle age with the dogs, travel is restricted to the UK and Ireland. I can’t really see us jetting off to more exotic parts of the world, leaving them in kennels. Career wise I’m muddling along, no great aspirations to seek greater heights. Intellectually – ah now there’s the thing. I admit to craving knowledge like a drug, reading books and websites greedily, wanting to get the “hit” of the final page and knowledge nirvana. But a poor memory and lack of discipline means that I rarely actually learn all that much. I’ve been known to make study plans and find them six months later down the back of the sofa. Or in a stack of books to be read. Ah well. So yes, I have far, far to go. Now where’s that list I made last week…?
