Who could resist

a book with a synopsis like this?

Here is the story of Kaiser Wilhelm’s holiday in a small Welsh spa town shortly before the outbreak of the Great War, and of the Welsh waxwork museum largely peopled by countless effigies of Prince Philip discarded by Madame Tussaud’s. There is the true story of how a project to ensure the survival of the Welsh language came to involve the translation of pornographic novels, and the equally true story of how Kurt Cobain came to meet Courtney Love – in the one nightclub in Newport, South Wales. And there is the utterly baffling tale of how the Holy Grail temporarily came to be in the safe keeping of the manager of Lloyds Bank in Aberystwyth.

The Bank Manager and the Holy Grail: Travels in the Strange Kingdom of Wales by Byron Rogers.

There are far too many items in the shopping basket, I’m trying to delete those I can get from the library, those I can borrow from friends and relations and those I’ll never have time to read anyway.

Argh, the lovely Amazon! Far too tempting to ship new releases by my favourite authors that aren’t available in NZ for months…

    *slaps hand*

I hate all this publishing/releasing of books/films at different times around the world. I guess the only answer is for you to come live in the UK Fi… ;-))

Perhaps you should publish your list of books so we can supply ‘un-recommendations’.

Good idea but alas, too late. I had those birthday vouchers burning a virtual hole in my pocket and I just had to order last night.
