Some wonderful tribues to John Peel across the blogosphere: Hydragenic, Leah, Billy, Billy again, David, Huwge and Richard.
Aside from his legendary status in the music world, if you’d like to undertand why the nation is mourning this lovely man, go listen to this week’s edition of Home Truths.

The tribute on Front Row is worth listening to as well, if only for the brief and heartfelt moment of anger from Andy Kershaw toward the end of the programme, about the way the John Peel’s Radio One show had been pushed back to 11 O’Clock at night and what a strain that had put on him.

VH1’s tribute was, to use the technical term, ‘pants’. A 25 minute program (including ad-breaks) and 95% of the time were JP’s favourite bands playing, so very little insight into JP himself.

I could hardly listen to it. Yesterday in Sheffield I saw lots of these, don’t know if they have cropped up anywhere else.
