A round of applause -
- to the American people, I’ve been hearing reports that some voters are waiting in line for up to five hours to cast their vote. I’ve been trying to imagine that happening here in the UK but failing miserably.
I’ve abandoned the plan to stay up to watch the results coming in (not enough sleep last night or the night before) but I’ll go to bed with fingers & toes crossed that tomorrow brings the best news of all, John Forbes Kerry as the new president of the United States of America.

Don’t want to be the one to break bad news, Dais’, but it’s not looking particularly good for the ‘new’ JFK …
November 3rd, 2004 07:37
Only here to echo Emrys - 60% of the electorate participated and yet…
I wonder what it will be like in Dallas at the w/e - I guess they might’ve run me out of town if Kerry had won.
November 3rd, 2004 08:31
It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings - 6 states still to come…
November 3rd, 2004 09:06
*weeps*
stay in bed daisy. get up tomorrow instead.
wear a cowboy hat huwge and avoid using any funny sounding welsh words.
November 3rd, 2004 09:19
Can’t stay in bed, I’m praying for a miracle!
November 3rd, 2004 10:22
If I wear a cowboy hat I look like Hoss out of Bonanza, except in a Brian Blessed stylee!
Think of it this way Daisy - Kerry may seem better than Bush (on a personal level), but with the Republicans controlling both houses he may not be / have been a particularly effective president. Also, he still wouldn’t sign the Kyoto accord.
November 3rd, 2004 11:42
Oh God. It looks like he’s going to get in again.
*looks for passport to planet of sane people*
Anybody want to come with me?
November 3rd, 2004 12:10
a miracle daisy?
they don’t make pretzels that big.
.o0(what the hell is a pretzel anyway?)
i was all set anan but then i realised my passport had been revoked.
November 3rd, 2004 12:29
i supect that if a ‘planet of the sane people’ existed it would soon be placed on the axis of evil
November 3rd, 2004 13:09
let’s vote in briggy as our new president of the POSP.
November 3rd, 2004 13:11
no! no!
*kicking and screaming*
…not another four years of bushisms!
November 3rd, 2004 13:14
This waiting is SO nerve-wracking.
Great to see more of the American electorate turned out than usual, mind you, even if they ticked the wrong boxes!
It’s NOT looking good.
November 3rd, 2004 13:21
as the democratically elected president of the POSP republic (of course!), albeit in absentia on account of having had my passport revoked, my first act of parliament is to institute a system of ‘presidential rotation’ whereby each day of the week someone new (and of course sane) gets to be El Big Cheese.
My second act is that liking the sound of ‘El Big Cheese’ very much that this term replaces the outdated and now tarnished term ‘president’.
November 3rd, 2004 13:56
the bbc is saying that bush is going to announce he’s won, but is giving kerry a chance to ‘reflect’ on the results (!)
got another spare ticket for that trip outta here anan?
November 3rd, 2004 16:29
oh no! Kerry has conceded!
November 3rd, 2004 17:32
… spaceship now loading…
November 3rd, 2004 17:42
Joins queue out of here….
November 3rd, 2004 17:57
Okay, I might have a problem if anyone actually checks my sanity levels but I’m on board. Can we bring the dogs?
November 3rd, 2004 18:23
will the last person leaving planet insanity please switch off the lights.
November 3rd, 2004 18:24
.o0(oo… i’m pinching lines from The Sun)
November 3rd, 2004 18:25
Who should have been prosecuted for the racist crap they were spewing at that time.
