Favourite quotes

Today’s Blogliner:

Each day we post of one of our favourite quotes for your enjoyment, but it occurs to us we could use some new material.

How about listing a dozen or so of your own favourites? Be sure to let us know you’ve posted yours (using trackback or just leave a comment) and we’ll share several as ‘quote of the day’ with a link back to your blog.

Time to dig out a few dog related quotes then. Oh and Dorothy Parker. And I can’t miss Rita Rudner. Okay, it’ll have to be more than a dozen. It’s a welsh dozen, ‘k?

“The difference between cats and dogs is, dogs come when they are called, cats take a message and get back to you.”

“Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself.”
– Rita Mae Brown

“The first thing I do in the morning is brush my teeth and sharpen my tongue.”

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend:

“Liberals are like dogs:

The liberal holds that he is true to the republic when he is true to himself. (It may not be as cozy an attitude as it sounds.) He greets with enthusiasm the fact of the journey, as a dog greets a man’s invitation to take a walk. And he acts in the dog’s way too, swinging wide, racing ahead, doubling back, covering many miles of territory that the man never traverses, all in the spirit of inquiry and the zest for truth. He leaves a crazy trail, but he ranges far beyond the genteel old party he walks with and he is usually in a better position to discover a skunk.”
– E. B. White

“Three things it is best to avoid: a strange dog, a flood, and a man who thinks he is wise.”
– Welsh Proverb

“The more I see of the representatives of the people, the more I admire my dogs.”
– Alphonse de Lamartine

“Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet.”
– Colette

“One reason a dog is such a lovable creature is his tail wags instead of his tongue.”
– Unknown

“No one is listening until you fart.”
– Author Unknown

My longtime favorite: The main difference between a man and a dog is that the dog seldom bites the hand that feeds it…Mark Twain

I love Rita Rudner! My favorite of hers:
