Tracking outgoing clicks
I’ve sometimes wondered if it would be possible to find a service that offers tracking not of incoming links but outgoing.
A new service has just arrived - MyBlogLog - that does just that [via 43 Folders]. Add a single line of Javascript to your blog, it’s instantly up and running and starts tracking where all your visitors are clicking to.
There’s a free (phew!) and a Pro version but at $25/year (or 12 x $3 payments) for the Pro version, if it’s as useful as it appears at first glance it might be worth signing up for. The interface is excellent, it was up and running in seconds and doesn’t seem to affect page load (the way Technorati does at times).
I’ve just signed up and in just 2 or 3 minutes of adding the code can already see that somebody liked the look of the BBC limerick competition in the previous post, an old link to a “how optimistic are you” quiz - hang on, have a look at a quick screenshot (it was me clicking on the 6 Nations link, just checking how my boys are doing…).
Question is, will this change what I link to? If, say, design links were hugely more popular than those to radio programmes, would I concentrate more on the former? I really don’t know. To be pondered upon.

That’s neat. And interesting. Maybe I should start actually blogging again.

Your loyal readership are here because of what you’re offering now, Daisy, so don’t read too much into these exit stats.

I looked at that and was concerned that it would backfire. No hiccups, huh
