A tribute to Dave Allen

I’m just listening to Paul Jackson’s tribute to Dave Allen: The Sit Down Stand Up, revised from the programme broadcast in January this year.

There’s no direct link yet but if you go to the BBC Radio 4 Listen Again page, look on the right hand sidebar and click on the (currently) first entry.

Update: The programme is no longer available on the BBC Radio 4 page, we’ll have to wait for a repeat.

ah yes. i used to love the man’s television shows when i was a boy.

    he had charisma.

i always remember his line about the boy that came up to him and said:

“Mr. Mr. You’re the fella with a half finger aren’t ye?”

“No son. I’m the fella with nine and a half fingers!”

Heh, I remember that one. And the one where he’s trying to explain how to tell the time to a little boy – the minute hand, the second hand…

    “Right, Son, listen, it’s easy.

    You’ve got twelve numbers, 1 to 12.

    12 means o’clock, and also 60, or 0.

1 means five or five past

3 is fifteen, 6 is thirty or half..
