This’ll be on one of those lists soon

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

The Weakest Link, BBC UK version, broadcast on Thursday 15 February 2007.

Anne (bleugh) Robinson: What “h” precedes “be thy name” in the Lord’s Prayer?

Contestant: Howard.

Anne: Sorry?

Contestant: Howard.

Anne (smirking): Hallowed.

Poor Marco.

Trolley crush

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Actually, it’s called Valentine Crush but I’ve been playing it solidly for an hour (and for chunks of time before that) and my eyes are playing tricks on me and the hearts now look more like men’s trolleys than anything else.

But ever generous, I had to share the pain joy, go play Valentine Crush yourselves. [Via MetaFilter Projects.]

Hang on a cotton pickin’ minute

Friday, February 9th, 2007

I just spent 10 minutes or so completing a survey on current music trends (and I didn’t mention Cilla Black once!) in the vain hope of being in the draw to win an iRiver only to get to the end and realise that not once did I get asked for an email address or any means of notifying me when if I win. Harrumph.

The survey is being run by My Voice for Channel 4 Radio. The hyperlink in the publicity email that led me there does contain a long string of letters and digits, but since that was three lines long and no longer worked as a hyperlink, I used the alternative link. Maybe the identifier is in the unclickable link. Time to go cook supper then.

Quote of the day, #48

Yes, another one! From the wonderful Overhead in the Office’s most popular page:

Right Next to the ‘Irony’ Button

Customer, trying to use his debit card: I gotta push “English”? “Spanish” shouldn’t be an option. If they can’t speak no English, they ain’t got no business being here. Where’s the “yes” button at?

Cashier: It’s the button that says “yes” on it.

In a non-football household, Angela Giles Klocke’s 10 year old daughter sums it up.

Mixed bag #312

Fun: Remember this post on how to break the internet? Tudor Mateescu has made a video of the process.

Thought-provoking: The rape of Mr Smith.

Droolable 110 dogs, a collection of beautiful black and white photos of dogs.

From the IMDB review of The Hunted:

They also answer that age-old question “who’d win a fight between a middle-aged ex-athlete with a few months of kendo training and a ninja who’s just lost an arm and leg”?

I am such a pudding

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

Pun intended.

I’ve been sat here in front of the screen, finding it hard to deal with the bitter taste of rejection. Bowled over and grateful to the Stock Xchng community for sharing an unending supply of wonderful photos for banners, designs, cd covers, I suddenly got the idea to contribute a few photos. Not that they’re particularly good but might have been useful to someone writing about baking cakes or puddings. Or eggs.

Things they don’t tell you about losing weight, part 1

The face of a small white terrier emerging from a blanket.

It’s so bloody cold! Gone are the days I’d be whizzing around the park in a t-shirt in January, now I need 6 layers of thermals just to get out of the front door. Brrrrr.

Zooomr vs Flickr

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

The two services are so very different, I don’t think it’s a case of “one or the other” but the mandate to switch all us Old Skool vets to the mainstream is irking me terribly. Oh I know, there are far more important things to be fretting about but sometimes the ostrich in the sand position is the only thing that works.

Anyway, I’ve not posted anything to Zooomr for a while and must confess I was thinking about moving them over to Flickr but I’ve just discovered that Zoomr shows referrals for each picture – I now know that this picture is the 4th result at Google for puddle chucker and has been viewed 91 times. Beams with pride.

On the other hand… Zooomr login is via the godawful OpenID thingumyjig which defeats my feeble brain.

Decisions, decisions…

[Later that same day… this post has been edited to change Zoomr to Zooomr (3 ‘o’s rather than 2).]
