I didn’t mean it, honest

Saturday, November 26th, 2005

It’s a rugby fest chez Daisy today – England v Manu Samoa, Wales v Australia and finally France v South Africa. A perfect activity for a cold but *sob* snow-free day in Surrey.

It’s very strange to see Wales play in the new black strip. Apparently it’s to celebrate 125 years of Welsh rugby. The more cynical among us would view it more as a money making exercise by the WRU. But I’m feeling a little bit like Blue Witch at the moment, having one of her spells gone wrong. Because on more than one occasion in the past I’ve jokingly said that I wished we wore something more like the sexy black New Zealand strip or the lovely colours of the Springboks.

I’m sorry, please bring back the red.

Sorry Scotland

But the chores are done, supper’s in the oven and I’ll be cheering for Wales.

I’ve had forebodings about the Wales v France game today and seeing the shoulders of the French team as they came on the pitch only deepened those fears. Five minutes in and we’re 7 12 down.

And I’ve run out of tea.

Let’s find some distraction – how about Jo? She’ looking for some menu ideas.

Or Andre? 8 cigarette free days and he’s perfecting the art of the hate list.

And lovely Billy has some fantastic news.

Even this

can’t raise my spirits.

I’m getting even worse at leaving comments, have a stack of stuff to post but can’t string a sentence together and generally feel out of sorts and ready to throw in the towel. Tomorrow is designated “do not switch the computer on” day, subtitled “Where Daisy goes off to get her groove back”.

Be good, see you Monday.

Stolen from this BBC page.

I was tempted to use a photo from the latest Worth 1000 contest – If Dogs Ruled 2 but I ain’t missing the opportunity to revel in a Welsh win against England in Cardiff. Oh no.

So, your captions in the comments box if you’re so inclined. But no rapid anti Englishness please. I have to live here you know ;-)

Saturday fun

Saturday, November 6th, 2004

Bored? Why not have a go at Watch Br*tney strip – it’s not what you’re thinking, well not quite, you need to be quite dexterous to get through the maze. Do put the volume up to hear what Britney is saying – satisfaction guaranteed ;-) [via greasy chip butty] and there are more games to be found at my funlink.] Just spotted – Interactive Mona Lisa. Heh.

My heart is still pounding after a cracking good game of rugby – Wales almost beat South Africa (and might have done if the Springboks hadn’t been playing with 16 men).

But can I offer a word of motherly advice to Colin Charvis. Get your bloody hair cut! Remember:

short = sexy / long = muppet

This has been a public information service. Thank you.

Rob Howley scoring a try

As feared, Rob Howley is retiring from rugby due to the scaphoid injury sustained earlier in the year.

I know that a great rugby player doesn’t necessarily mean a great coach but I suspect he could be one of the few.

The All Blacks. On a wet beach. Doing the Haka.

Sweet dreams.

Thanks to Little Bits for this – it’s not a direct link, but if you scroll down or search for haka you’ll find ’em. You’re especially looking for

EXCLUSIVE: Watch the All Blacks perform the haka on Auckland’s Kare Kare Beach for their 2004 poster.

Swoon.

p.s. Best wishes to Jonah Lomu, in recovery following his kidney transplant.

p.p.s. Shame the England team don’t have a similar pre match tactic. How about morris dancing with attitude?

As the national anthems were sung at yesterday’s Wales v Argentina game, the opposition stood there singing their hearts out wearing the familiar Puma shirt.

Daisy: Where on earth is Visa
Martyn: It’s a town in Italy isn’t it?
Daisy: Oh yes, home of the leaning tower of Visa.

And then Frodo farted botty burped*.
